White Sage + Copal (4 inches)

Description

This is not a stick: it is a bundle — white sage and copal rolled together, a cleansing bunch that is used whole, not stick by stick. It measures 4 inches long, and comes with a single piece per package.

It is used like any cleansing bundle: light one end for a few seconds and extinguish the flame right away, blowing gently over a fireproof container, so it stays as an ember and smolders. Never leave it with an active flame. Always place it on a plate or fireproof base — clay, ceramic, a censer — that catches the ash, in a ventilated space, away from curtains, paper or anything flammable, and out of reach of children and pets. Do not leave it unattended while it smolders. To extinguish it between sessions, press the tip against the container or bury it in sand until it stops smoldering completely and is cold to the touch.

It brings together two traditions of ritual smoke that were born separately: white sage belongs to a North American tradition and copal to a Mesoamerican one. Here they arrive in a single object, without merging them into a single story.
