Myrrh is a resin extracted from trees of the genus Commiphora, native to Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Along with frankincense, it is one of the oldest resins used in religious ceremonies and purification rituals in different cultures.
Its aroma is warm, balsamic and slightly bitter, which is why it is often used to create solemn or introspective atmospheres.
