Musk is one of the oldest and most recognizable fragrances in perfumery. Originally obtained from the gland of an Asian deer (Moschus moschiferus); today, due to species protection, practically all commercial musk—including this one—is recreated with synthetic and plant-based ingredients that imitate its warm and enveloping character.
In India it is traditionally associated with sensuality and warmth, and is a common note in both perfumes and incenses used for ceremonies and offerings.
